When talking about medicine for diabetes it can be heart-breaking to know that some pharmaceutical medication can not give you the type of relief you need from the pains and aches of diabetes. However, there are always alterative ways to defeat the pains and aches, some people try things like acupuncture, but before you try that, maybe you should try using some herbal methods.

There are many herbs out there to help you defeat diabetes and stay on top of your game, you should however, always ask your doctor for their personal opinion on taking these herbs as they may not be the right kind for you. Either way I have composed a list for you, so that you can learn more about the herbs and what they can do for you.

Ampalaya also known as Bitter Melon or more formally in medicine know as Momordica charantia is an herbal method which has been used for many generations through-out time. It was used for many things back in it’s down and most recently had been noticed more for its effects on diabetes. It contains mixtures of Alkaloids and flavanoids which help the pancreas produce more insulin, since insulin controls the blood sugar in diabetes this is a great herb to use. It has been used for centuries by the Chinese and had been tested world wide in many laboratories and research clinics. The test show improvement on many genre’s of illnesses, such as HIV, liver problems and of course diabetes.

However, it not only helps with illnesses, it can also be great for getting all your nutritional needs met. Ampalaya has great source of vitamins in it, such as iron, calcium, phosphorous, folic acid and the vitamins A, B, and C. Ampalaya has also been helpful in improvement in diseases of the spleen and liver, lowering blood pressure, relieves headaches, helps to prevent certain kinds of cancer and enhances immune system’s in which it can help to fight infections. Not to mention its value as a smaller value around the house, it can also help with disinfecting and healing wounds and burns or used to cure that nagging cough and those high temperatures.

When preparing Ampalaya you might get somewhat confused on what you should do first since Ampalaya is in a leaf form. Ampalaya comes from a vine that stands about 5 meters high, you can see leaves lying all the way up the vine which are anywhere from 4 to 12 centimeters wide. Each plant shows yellow male and female flowers which become bitter melons. A bitter melon looks somewhat like small oblong watermelon. The ways to prepare Ampalaya depends on what you are trying to treat. If you are looking to get help with any headaches, burns or skin diseases that you have been having then it would be best to apply some of the warmed leaves to the area in which the most pain is coming from. For everyday uses of coughs, fever, diarrhea and diabetes, you are supposed to take the Ampalaya leaves and squeeze the juices from each leaf giving you a spoonful of juice. This must be done daily in order for the treatment to work properly.

Over 100 studies have been done over the effects of Ampalaya, each have showed a substantial amount of reduction in blood sugars. Dr. A Raman and Dr. C. Lau have gone over at least 150 pre-clinical and other clinical studies on the properties Ampalaya has toward helping patients who have diabetes. It showed that those who had taking Ampalaya orally as in the seed power or fruit juice of the bitter melon, which comes from the same plant as the Ampalaya leaves showed a decrease in blood glucose and helps to improve the intake of glucose, therefore making patients more tolerable to the sugar and less dependant on insulin needs.
