Brittle diabetes is perhaps the worse diabetes that you could have since is means that a person is steadily dealing with hypoglycemia on a regular basis. Brittle diabetes keeps a person blood sugar level low on a constant basis. Granted these people are not seen very often through the patients of diabetics because Brittle diabetes if very rare. Less then 1 percent of diabetics are diagnosed with brittle diabetes. Brittle diabetic patients spend a remarkable amount of time in the hospital which could not be a very fulfilling life for a person. It is considered a burden on hospitals and family members also.
Through many tests it has been shown that brittle diabetes is tied to physiological issues. When patients develop unhappiness in their lives, when they become happier in their lives then the brittleness seems too get away from the diabetes.
Sometimes Brittle diabetes is referred to as Unpredictable Diabetes or Labile Diabetes. Brittle diabetes is called these names also because it is a totally out of control illness. The biggest symptom is the blood sugar level being so imbalanced. Brittle diabetes can also be caused by gastrointestinal absorption problems, which include drug interactions, hormonal malfunction, insulin absorption problems and gastroperisis.
Brittle Diabetes can cause other problems to occur because if its ongoing effects of keeping your blood sugar so low. Thyroid and adrenal glands can be affected; also gastroperesis can affect the absorption of food, insulin and glucose that flows into the blood stream.

Usually brittle diabetes only affects people in the age group of 15 to 30; however elderly men and women have been diagnosed with brittle diabetes as a concern. Treatment of brittle diabetes includes a hospital visit and most of these visits can take up two or three weeks depending on how low your blood sugar level is. You will be monitored very closely when in the hospital and may even be sought by a psychological who will try and talk to you about any unhappiness and stressful situations you have obtained in your life that could be affecting you at this very moment.
One thing is for sure Brittle diabetes is no laughing matter and you never know what turn it will take. The symptoms are always the same and you should be able to feel the down shift in your blood sugar level. You should go to a doctor immediately if you find that you are taking your blood sugar level and finding a huge amount of fluctuating numbers. Never think it will just go away and you’ll get better because that is not always the case. Hospitalization is pretty much your only option when you brittle diabetes gets severe enough therefore that it the way to go. Diabetes in itself can be a very trying illness, so stop it before it stops you.
Never hesitate even if you think you might be overreacting or a family member might think you are overreacting. You know your body better then anyone does.
