If you have suffered the onslaught of diabetes and are tired of insulin injections or other types of medications that are just not working, you might want to try Apidra. Apidra works fast to get the insulin into your body. This man made insulin is used to treat diabetes due to obese or overweight conditions or through conditions infused by heredity. Apidra works faster than insulin but it doesn't work as long as insulin does. Apidra is usually used with longer acting insulin or it could be used by itself as an insulin pump.
When taking Apidra you should follow the doctor's directions closely. You don't put yourself on more Apidra or take yourself off the Apidra unless the doctor has told to do so. Apidra is important to maintaining your blood sugar levels and if you did not take the medicine, you could become hyperglycemic and perhaps be overwhelmed by the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Apidra is an injected drug so make sure use the right size needle and syringe is used. It is important to note to not mix Apidra with any other insulin inside your insulin pump. To do so would create a dangerous situation in which you would need to contact the emergency room or your doctor immediately.
One of the most common side effects in a feature is hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia means that you have low blood sugar. As a diabetic you should recognize the symptoms of low blood sugar and be able to add sugar to your diet immediately if you experience the symptoms. The first symptoms are usually a headache or dizziness. This could be followed by periods of nausea and perhaps vomiting. It is important that you and take some sugar and contact your doctor as soon as these first symptoms take place. Hypoglycemia can cause death. If you have these symptoms do not ignore them or think they are something else. Contact your doctor immediately.
The other side effects of Apidra are allergic reactions. This could be a slight rash or any raised bump on your skin. These usually happen around the injection sites. If you notice a rash or mumps that are appearing around the injection site, contact your doctor and let him or her know what's going on. Other side effects include loss of body fat at the injection sites. You will notice that your skin is a little bit more flexible and there is not any tight feel to the skin around the injection site. The loss of body fat and the skin rashes can cause itching. Let your doctor know the side effects and he or she will prescribe you something to take care the itching and to bring down the swelling around the injection sites.
When you are injecting Apidra make sure that you do not use the same injection site twice. Rotate the injection site so that one injection site will not become inflamed or infected. Always use a syringe that is marked U-100 insulin. Remember when you use Apidra in a pump do not mix with any other insulin. Before you use Apidra make sure that you research the side effects, the reactions, and the benefits before you begin the medications.
